Whew, I know I am kind of late [but actually kind of early with this.] considering the “Cyber Land” community. I also meant to post the video for “What I’ve Done” a long time ago, but I guess I got caught up in the “hype,” and posted what was “in” at the time. How on this earth can I forget about, one of the best bands that I happen to like, Linkin Park! Well anyway, Minutes To Midnight (album cover shown above), the third studio album from the group, is scheduled to be released May 15th 2007 in the United States and will include their first single, “What I’ve Done,” which was released on April 2, 2007 and debuted at number one on the U.S. Modern Rock charts! The album is full of hardcore rock aggression and interesting choice of lyrics in some songs; “What I’ve Done,” “Hands Held High,” “No More Sorrow”…. All my personal favorites by the way. Overall it was a pretty damn good listen (”Given Up” = Kick. Ass. Shit.) *sigh* man, ya’ll really need to listen to rock… After the cut you can watch the video for “What I’ve Done” also, hats off to the director, it captured the whole essence of the song in it’s complete entirety. It touches on some few global issues such as animal cruelty, inhumanity, righteous America (the same America claiming patriotism), war, and current events like uh.. Darfur! Heeelllloooo, wake up people, wake up! Oh, and J recently bought up a request that I found was a great idea, I use to do it but stopped, posting alternate links for new music just in case the original link is down for whatever reason; because I got a lot of request to post some links back up but I could not, sorry. BUT, from now on I will take this into consideration and post a “Mirror,” meaning alternate, link when posting BFF. I deeply apologize for the inconvenience ya’ll.

In February, Island Def Jam Chairman L.A. Reid brought Jermaine Dupri over to Island to be president of urban music, and now it looks as if JD’s girlfriend, Janet Jackson, is not too far behind. The longtime Virgin Records artist has been in talks to switch label homes.
“Definitely Janet will end up at Island,” Dupri told MTV News recently. “That’s without a doubt. L.A. always wanted to sign her regardless [of whether] I was there or not. I don’t know where that deal is — I left that in the hands of L.A. and Janet’s people — but more than likely, he’ll get what he wants.”
Whether or not the deal is completed, Jackson will put out a song this summer. Dupri just finished a deal for his company to release the “Rush Hour 3″ soundtrack (the first two soundtracks were released on Island during its old regime).
“Janet will have one of the first singles off the album,” he said. “Bow Wow will be on the soundtrack. A couple usual suspects should pop up on the soundtrack, but I want it to be something unique [to] incorporate the new [Island Def Jam] family I’m with. I’mma see what Luda’s doing, what Jay is doing. I’mma see if I can get some records from people.”
And Janet Jackson isn’t the only girlfriend switching over to her man’s label! But you didn’t hear that from me…
I have a confession to make, I do. I’m actually diggin’ Rihanna’s new single =x I’m slowly becoming a fan and it’s scaring me! It looks like we’ll have a lot to look forward to from her album, I’m definitely liking all the joints I’ve heard so far, “Shut Up And Drive” is set to be lifted as the second single from Rihanna’s third LP Good Girl Gone Bad. Here is, not the full quality, but the radio rip that premiered recently; some of the samples are used from the classic 80’s song, “Blue Monday” by New Order. It was reported that the single, “Shut Up And Drive,” will appear in a few car commercials as well! Anyway, best of luck to Rihanna, I’m really feeling this new “Good Girl Gone Bad” sound.

Even though R Kelly is going through some things right now, you can’t deny that he is a great songwriter! I mean, the man can write about anything at anytime. He writes message songs, R&B hits, hip-hop songs … hell, damn near anything! This song here is called “Rise Up” and is dedicated to the Virginia Tech Tragedy. You can stream it below, but on May 15th, you will be able to download the song, and 100% of the net proceeds from its sale will go to the “Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.” Kelly, 40, wrote the inspirational ballad after watching the events unfold on television while he was on route to a performance, Jive said. The lyrics include the lines: “Rise up, when you feel you can’t go on, rise up, and all of your hope is gone, rise up, when you’re weak and you can’t be strong.” The Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund was created to provide assistance to the victims of the families, as well as grief counseling and other needs for those affected by the shootings. More info on the Virginia Tech Tragedy Memorial Fund can be found here. Also, be on the lookout for his new album “Double Up” which will be hitting stores MAY 29, 2007! I will be posting more about that later on in the week, but for now, you can stream “Rise Up” below…
After having an intimate dinner with family and a few close friends at Mr. Chows, Chris decided to go all out this weekend with his “Off The Wall” 18th birthday party at the 40/40 club. The likes of Huey, Bryan Cox, Lil Mama, Brandon T Jackson, Trey Songz, Danielle Evans (America’s Next Top Model), Jennifer Hudson, Rihanna, and of course Chris Brown himself were in attendance. You know where to check out the flicks … or at least you should, by now =P
FYI: If you come to the site and see that we’re not updating, it’s not that we’re neglecting your addiction to reading up on the latest from your favorite celebrities, but most of you may know that May is the month of hell for students in high school and college. Mike and I will do our bests to balance everything and at least come in every other day if we can’t make it EVERY day. School for me ends May 31st and I’m out for the summer! So I’ll be 100% free and I know you guys will love it =P Now, back to the updates…
Lots of celebs turned out to get dressed up, spend some money, and see a bunch of horses running laps around a track at the 132nd annual Kentucky Derby this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky. How fun! [end sarcasm] But no really, the Kentucky Derby is a big event for rich folk. The ladies get decked out in summer dresses and sport these huuuge hats while the guys look sharp in their Sunday’s best (or worst). Check out more flicks of the celebs after the cut! Solo’s back in the studio and working on an upcoming project! These are two new tracks you can listen to from Solange, “ChampagneChronicNightcap” and “White Picket Dreams,” (my absolute favorite!) below. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve always liked Solange’s music, even from the material on Simpley Deep plus I love Alternative R&B. Her music has always been a little bit more “grown-up” and full of depth. Kinda reminds me of a young Sade even, she has definitely grown on me I must say, so I am willingly anticipating the return of Miss Solange. Bring It On! Thanks a million to Brian for the links!
NOOOO! What… the… hell!? Sanjaya Malakar might join I Love New York 2, if you don’t believe me - just visit Sanjaya’s Page and see for yourself! SMH, how old is he again?
Last Wednesday Beyoncé was spotted shopping at Gucci in Stockholm, Sweden - she looks gorgeous! OMG and B-itch get that camera out that girl’s face so close like that! I’m surprised Beyoncé didn’t swing on that random individual. These fans just take it too far… CONTINUE READING
I know ya’ll been hearing all of these rumors about Usher firing his Mother as his manager well, it’s official and here is what he had to say about it …
“She and I are on great terms and support each other in our life’s endeavors. We are both very happy but are now working in different areas of the business,†[he] said in a statement to the Associated Press. “This is great for me because it means I now get to have my mother strictly as my mother with no added pressure.â€
I for one am happy, although … NOTHING quite says “Happy Mother’s Day” Mom like a swift kick in the ass with Usher’s “business” decision, but I know it must have been hard for him I guess, and it appears it was all for the best, he adds …
“At this time in my life, I am simply more interested in building the strength of my family. And in order to do that, I feel it’s best to separate my business life from my personal life,â€
Well good for him! I hope it all works out for the best, I feel him on that part though, as long as his Mom is cool with it.
This is a sneak preview that recently leaked of Nas and Kelis’ upcoming reality show coming soon to MTV, a big thanks to Ultimate Kelis for the link, I didn’t even know this was in the works! I’m sooo watchin’ this shit when it airs!!! LOL @ armpits, urrrgh, I love Kelis.
Beyoncé » “In This World” » Download » (Full) » Two new bonus B’Day tracks you guys can take a listen to, out of the two, I like “In This World” a little more. “What’s Good With You” is just all wrong, I see why it wasn’t finalized and didn’t make the cut, it really doesn’t show much growth to me. But needless to say “In This World” I can get with! What song does this remind me of? I feel an ol’ school grove with this one, it’s a little short though, I can just picture two hopeless romances canoodling over the soft melody under a tree in Central Park or something. The lyrics are pretty meaningful as well, it gets a pass from me.
T.I. » “You Know What It Is” » Download » (Rip) » This is new music from TI, a exclusive webrip/snippet, “You Know What It Is” featuring Wyclef Jean of the Fugees from TI’s new album TI vs TIP droping this Summer of 2007. Big ups to The Regulators for this track! I don’t know about ya’ll but I stay waitin’ for that Fugees album, Wyclef! But I digress… CONTINUE READING
…the nation’s latest dance craze! Dem Franchize Boyz brought us “Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It,” and Unk brought us “Walk It Out.” Now this cat by the name of Rev. X is bringing us “The Healing Dance!” And all I have to say is WHAT .. THE .. HELL? I’m like, really scared. For all of you atheists, nay-sayers and non-believers, this video is 100% evidence that the end is near! Jesus take the wheel…
While rap’s young guns are appeasing critics and vowing to keep it clean, one of hip-hop’s elder statesmen isn’t about to let Al Sharpton, Oprah, or anyone else for that matter tell him what he can and cannot say. In a recent interview with SOHH, Ice-T said that he’s going to continue to use the N-word when he’s got the mic in his hand, claiming that the word’s OK when used by someone from the ‘hood.
“I’m (going to) say ‘nigga’ til the wheels fall off,” said the Original Gangster. “My daddy used to say it. I believe that, if it doesn’t apply to you, don’t say it. If you ain’t from the hood, don’t say nigga. That’s where it lies.”
Ice-T then went off on sellouts, saying that he thinks “a lot of black people are too overly concerned with what white people think about them.”
I wouldn’t exactly word it that way, but I’m kind of on the fence about this. In a way, I don’t think we should use it, but in another way I see nothing wrong with the damn word. It is what it is … a word! “Nigga” is like those surfer boys’ “dude” in my opinion. Now if somebody came up to me and was like “nigger,” then hell yeah! It’s on and poppin! NO ONE should be able to use the “-er” version freely.
Damn, can this girl catch a break? While her brother’s out running around producing porn flicks and having release parties and shit, she’s sitting in a corner hyperventilating and I’m sure good ol Ray J doesn’t give a flip. Sad story…
Brandy is being sued for negligence and wrongful death by the husband of a woman killed in a car crash involving the singer. Marouane Hdidou filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday (May 2), and is seeking unspecified damages. According to a California Highway Patrol report, the singer failed to slow down on December 30 while driving her Land Rover in traffic. She was travelling at approximately 65 mph when her vehicle hit the back of Awatef Aboudihaj’s Honda.
If Brandy is charged and convicted, she could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, reports the Associated Press. Brandy is also facing a $50 million lawsuit from the victim’s parents, as previously reported. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office is now considering whether to charge Brandy with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
My question is, would they be pursuing this case as much for an average Joe? Probably not! I guess that’s one of the downsides of being a celebrity. The poor girl already got booted off of “America’s Got Talent.” Now, she’s got nothing…
