I know I’m late as hell but I just found out that this is Terrence J and Rocsi’s 100 anniversary hosting 106 and Park! PLUS, in light of that, 106 has a brand new look now! Wow, that’s kinda big - I can’t even hate, even though I don’t watch that show anymore that much. However, this is history right here; rapper Chamillionaire was the first celebrity to grace the new stage with his presence recently. Man, every time I hear this dude talk he’s so humble and articulated. He doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t drink, and he proves that you can still be hot and not curse on your records. It’s a pretty interesting interview, check it out!
Yo I just recently peeped this guys MYSPACE, his name is Mr. J Medeiros. I was feeling his music so much that I thought I should do an artist spotlight on him. Mr. J Medeiros has a CD coming out August 24th called Of Gods And Girls, the album sampler on his MySpace is mad crazy, I suggest you check that out immegiately! Hip-Hop Humanitarian launches an ANTI Human-Trafficking, ANTI Child-Pornography Campaign. IamConstance.org to provide victims with a voice
Los Angeles, CA – Mr. J Medeiros is an eloquent hip-hop artist on a mission to create massive social change through music, in more areas than one. In keeping with the release of his debut solo-album “Of gods and girls†on July 24th, 2007, Mr. J officially launches his anti child trafficking campaign “IamConstance.org†in Los Angeles today; a website that relates to the non-traditional, “hit†single off the album: “Constanceâ€.
“Constance†is the true story of a girl raised in The Philippines, kidnapped, and forced into prostitution and internet pornography at a young age. The video for “Constance†(which has already compiled over 100,000 views on YouTube), illustrates how Americans support this scenario everyday through “legal†and “illegal†internet porn sites.
“People don’t see the connection between clicking on the internet here and someone being raped in a hotel room on the other side of the world,†exclaims J, “I want people to recognize our responsibility in what is happening here. Child pornography is a $3 Billion dollar market and the porn industry all together is $57 Billion worldwide; it brings in more money than professional football, baseball, and basketball franchises combined.â€
The story of Constance aims to show the massive population of pornography users, that they may be fueling rape, abuse, human-trafficking, and child pornography. This is where the “IamConstance.org†campaign comes into play – the website hosts countless anonymous accounts from victims of trafficking, kidnapping and abuse. The purpose is to create change by revealing the magnitude of these atrocities.
The “I Am Constance Campaign†was born when J released the video online, and was immediately flooded with hundreds of YouTube comments, MySpace letters and personal accounts from women and men sharing their painful stories evoked by watching “Constance.†This sent Medeiros on a mission to tell these people’s stories, and show how many people are affected by this issue.
Mr. J’s hope is to increase awareness and accountability for these crimes. More than half of sexual assaults go unreported. J has partnered with organizations like HUMANTRAFFICKING.ORG, I Am Coming, and XXXchurch, in the hopes to break the silence about these crimes. They aim to rally support to demand that the UN increase minimum penalties for Human Trafficking worldwide. “800,000 women and children are kidnapped, trafficked and raped each year. That’s 2200 people each and every day, one every 39 seconds. Traffickers who are arrested may receive as little as 1 -4 years in prison. This has to stop,†demands J.

JULY 17 » Nick Cannon was recently spotted leaving Mr. Chows in Beverly Hills. I originally thought his shirt said “Stop Snitching.” And I thought to myself, “dang, I’m tired of seeing those damn shirts!” I mean really, they came out when I was a freshman in high school, and now I’m going into my senior year. But upon further inspection, I noticed that the shirt read “Stop HATING!” Who ya referrin to Nick? =)

OPRAH’S GOLDEN RETRIEVER DIED » In the August 2007 issue of O Magazine, which hit newsstands yesterday, Oprah talks about her recent experience in dealing the with the death of her 2-year-old golden retriever. The talk show host had a late lunch with friends, her dog, Gracie, was out with the dog walker and two other retrievers for their weekend exercise. The clear plastic ball, which belonged to Winfrey’s 12-year-old cocker spaniel Sophie, was in the grass when Gracie (who wasn’t supposed to play with the ball) found it – and swallowed it. Gracie apparantly choked on it and wasn’t able to be revived via CPR.
“I don’t believe in accidents,” writes Winfrey. “I know for sure that everything in life happens to help us live. I ran barefoot out of the house and found the dog walker and one of my security guards pumping her chest,” Winfrey writes about her reaction to the phone call that Gracie was no longer breathing. “Just as I reached them, the security guard looked up and said, ‘I’m sorry, ma’am. We tried everything. I’m sorry. She’s gone.’ I stood there dazed, stunned, crying – and watched as they placed her in the back of a golf cart, her still-warm body with the lipstick stain [from Winfrey's kiss beforehand] on her fur,” writes Winfrey. “Her life was a gift to me,” she said. “Her death, a greater one.”

This is the official cover for MIA’s second studio album, Kala, set to be released August 21st! Along with the album cover I’ve also provided some brief audio streams you can CHECK OUT. The album includes some really great production from Timbaland with one of my favorite songs called “Jimmy,” very Madonna-ish, this maybe second single material. But my all time favorites from Kala would have to be the new version of “XR2″ and “Paper Planes”!
MICHAEL VICK IS GOING DOWN! » Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was indicted today by a federal grand jury on charges related to illegal dogfighting. Vick and three others are charged with competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting such activities across state lines. The dogfighting operation was named “Bad Newz Kennels,” according to the indictment, and the dogs were housed, trained and fought at a Surry County, Va., property owned by Vick.
The indictment alleges that the 27-year-old Vick and his co-defendants began a grisly dogfighting operation in early 2001 in which dogs fought to the death or close. Losing dogs were sometimes killed by electrocution, drowning, hanging or gunshots. If convicted, Vick and the others Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor could face up to six years in prison, $350,000 in fines and restitution.
