I’m not sure what home boy did, but he has Ms Angie Stone pissed OFF! Just to refresh your memory, Angie spoke with Essence Magazine a couple of months ago about her past relationship with D’Angelo, and the state of their “relationship” to this day. At the time of that particular interview, she seemed pretty cool and had gotten over it. But in a recent interview with HHNLIVE.COM, it appears as though some things have changed. Same situation, different story. Peep the quote below:
Ain’t nothin’ happen with us. I never really say nothin’ negative about him, but he’s on my shit list right now … Of course [I spoke with him after the accident]. I have a son with him, so I had to speak to him. I’m very upset with him these days. I usually uphold him and try to keep him in the best light possible. I’m really not feeling him right now and he really needs to get his shit together.
Mr. Man-ish himself, Chris Brown, hits us with his latest Exclusive album, which is scheduled for release next month Tuesday (November 6th), it features guest appearances, as well as stellar productions, from the likes of T-Pain, will.i.am, Swizz Beatz, and Timbaland just to name a few.
The album starts off languid with consistent blandness.
I swayed this opinion towards the starting of a luring “You,” which gave off this Prince vibe to me, so ultimately, this was my favorite.
I wasn’t necessarily floored or in awe about the latter … BUT, I still enjoyed the album nonetheless. I was lackadaisical until “I’ll Call Ya,” (after hearing the snippet previously) I was quite interested in hearing the actual full to this, then I relapsed.
Overall Chris Brown’s Exclusive sounded like unmastered kiddie-Pop and not exactly what I semi-predicted. I was really rooting for Chris, I was. But I’m more so looking forward to Face Off at this moment. :SARCASM:
Standout tracks are “You,” “Damage,” “I Wanna Be” and “Down”.
Here’s Twista’s new video “Pimp Like Me” from his album “Adrenaline Rush,” which is in stores now. I haven’t really heard much from Twista. I never saw “Give It Up” on tv, nor did I hear it on the radio lol. What’s going on?? Anyhow, peep John Legend’s new video after the cut… CONTINUE READING

Ciara celebrated her 22nd birthday Sunday night at the Velvet Room in Atlanta. Folks like Ne-Yo, Bobby Valentino, Shay (from Charm School), I Love New York (2)’s Punk & Man Man, and her parents, Carlton & Jackie Harris, all showed up to celebrate with her. Happy birthday CiCi!
The lovely and beautiful Miss Keyshia Cole sat down with Tyra to discuss life, love and hardship on the Tyra Banks show! I must admit, after listening and watching this, I see Keyshia in a whole new light and I agree with everything she said. She is truly an inspiration and I see “The Real” in her eyes and overall tone. I love that she has learned, like I have, the hard way that you cannot trust ANYONE … LOL @ “No.. Thank you…” I f*ckin love this chick! Just Like You in stores now - what are you waiting for? And btw that performance was off rip! bbl to post the Vibe cover ;-)
This is British singer Leona Lewis’ second UK single, “Angel,” from her upcoming LP (already released in the UK), Spirit, set to release in the U.S. January 2008 to my knowledge … Wow, her voice is so angelic and sort of flows for this song! And I agree with Toya, it does have an “Irreplaceable” feel to it, I guess becos it was produced by Stargate as well, as they did with Chris Brown’s second single, “With You,” from his upcoming Exclusive album. Anyway, I just wanted to see what you guys thought? I mean, I never really heard of her :s but I like her! We’ll see how well Miss Lewis does when she hits the U.S. I can’t wait to hear more material from this chick!
Paris Hilton in a car accident with the Paparazzi during a weekend shopping spree in LA and it’s caught by CelebTV.com cameras. Those damn Paps — they should have sued her ass! He he =P
Sweetness. Here is the world premiere video (courtesy of Webcastr.com) of “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” from Daft Punk’s live album, Alive 2007, in stores November 20th! The video was shot at the band’s show in Brooklyn by 250 fans and directed by Olivier Gondry, the video features footage from 250 cameras held by fans in the audience! How wicked is that? It sounds like they remixed a little too, ugh, I can’t wait to get this album - I KNOW there will be a lot of House and Electro on it! =P
KANYE WRITES HIS OWN BOOK! » Mr. West can now add author to his ever-growing list of occupations; the rapper makes his very first literary debut, Thank You And You’re Welcome, with co-author J. Sakiya Sandifer. What exactly can we expect? “An entertaining volume of ‘Kanye-isms’ — the creative, humorous and insightful philosophies and anecdotes used in creating my path to success. It captures the same wit, playful irony, and piercing insight found abundant in my lyrics.” He writes from his personal blog, “I deliver my personal message uncensored, without any five-second delay or media distortion.” The self-published book will be available soon for your reading pleasure later this year. Until then West says he’ll post a few excerpts in the coming weeks for you guys. If you’d like you can pre-order it HERE. I think this will possibly be another FROM MEDIOCRE TO MAGNIFICENT, which is really good read, so I will be buying it!
STAR PULSE
RAP DUO CLIPSE SIGNS WITH NEW LABEL! » Quote from BILLBOARD.COM: “This time last year, the Clipse complained to anyone who’d listen how unhappy it was on Jive Records.” You see that people? Damn, and that was just the first sentence in the whole article — Somethin’ ain’t right! Why all these artists leaving Jive?! Hmm, could it be . . . LACKADAISICAL PROMOTION? Anyway, rant over. The good news is that Clipse inked a new major deal with Columbia Records — Here is a snippet from the article:
The Clipse will own the masters for its Re-Up Gang artists, Ab Liva and Sandman. Next year, the Clipse will issue a Re-Up Gang album as well as a new studio disc, but for the first time, the latter will not be produced solely by the Neptunes. Instead, the brothers are anticipating working with Timbaland, Danjahandz and Dame Grease.
Sweetness. I suppose Columbia isn’t so bad. Congratulations guys! Now, can somebody hook my girl Kelis up please?
Kelis Rogers-Jones, best known for the smash hit “Milkshake” from her Platinum-selling album Tasty in 2003, has been dropped from her U.S. label Jive Records recently. The apparent reason for this was cited to the poor lack in units pushed for the singer’s 2006 album Kelis Was Here, which barely went Gold, thus failing to make an impression on the charts.
First, former NSyncer JC Chasez decided to part ways with Jive Records, and now, EW has learned, Kelis has been dropped from the label that’s home to Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and R. Kelly. The R&B singer’s 2003 album, Tasty, yielded the massive hit “Milkshake,” and was certified gold, but Kelis’ most recent effort, 2006’s Kelis Was Here, had less success in the U.S.—despite plenty of guest spots, including a collaboration with her husband, Nas. Kelis was originally signed to Pharrell Williams’s Star Tracks, which had a distribution deal in place with Virgin, which was later moved to Arista and, through the SonyBMG merger, she ended up with Jive. “It was a case of being in the ever-shrinking world of the record industry and finding herself on a label she wasn’t signed to and without a champion,” says Kelis’ manager, Jeff Rabhan. “She’s a different kind of artist — very image and style-driven. It’s either something you get or you don’t.”
Kelis has been working on an indie dance record with Cee-Lo. A full-on pop effort with Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) will be shopped around soon. “We’re not opposed to another major label deal, but it would have to be non-traditional,” adds Rabhan. Kelis is also in talks to host a Project Runway-like show on VH1 and is auditioning for numerous TV and film roles. [ SOURCE ]
Well, maybe, just maybe if Jive promoted their artists a little better (because they have some good artists) it would not result to this but Kelis didn’t need them anyway. The reason why I put that 1999 album cover of Kaleidoscope up is becos that is possibly my most favorite album from Kelis. I still bump tracks 1-14 every now and then, and if you notice, that’s the whole album. Becos I thought it was simply a masterpiece, stark brilliance really, I was too young when she came out but I started learning about her in like 2005. She truly is an ARTist and I wish her well. It is so sad to see all that talent go to waste! She needs a label that will grant her COMPLETE creative control like M.I.A.
