(CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama flatly rejected suggestions Monday he would be a vice presidential running mate for Sen. Hillary Clinton. Clinton, Obama’s rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, and her husband, former President Clinton, have suggested a joint Clinton-Obama ticket — with Obama in the second slot. President Clinton Saturday suggested a Clinton-Obama ticket would be “unstoppable.”

“He would win the urban areas and the upscale voters. She would win the rural areas that we lost when President Reagan was president,” he said while campaigning in Pass Christian, Mississippi. “If you put those two things together, you’d have an almost unstoppable force.”

Obama forcefully shot that idea down.

“Sen. Clinton is fighting hard. She’s tenacious. I respect her for that. She is working hard to win the nomination. But I want everybody to be absolutely clear. I’m not running for vice president. I’m running for president of the United States of America,” Obama told supporters during a rally in Columbus, Mississippi.

If anyone should be suggesting vice presidential candidates, it should be him, Obama said.

“With all due respect. I won twice as many states as Sen. Clinton. I’ve won more of the popular vote than Sen. Clinton. I have more delegates than Sen. Clinton. So, I don’t know how somebody who’s in second place is offering vice presidency to the person who’s in first place,” he said.

Word on the sidewalk is that R&B star and gospel music producer Mario Winans is refusing to support his 3-year-old son. A court-order states that he is required to pay $4500 per month, and he stopped paying in August 2007, which in turn caused the mother of his child to lose her home. Now she’s homeless and relying on support from her friends and family while she’s trying to make ends meet working as a cocktail waitress.

R&B star and gospel music producer Mario Winans — nephew of Broadway star Benjamin “BeBe” Winans — is refusing to support his 3-year-old son, his ex-lover says. Janel Bennett, who was in an eight-year relationship with Winans before she had her son, Jordan, claims she was evicted from her home in Miami because Winans won’t pay child support. She told us she is “homeless and living with friends on the South Side of Chicago,” where she works as a cocktail waitress. In 2005, the Miami Herald reported, “A DNA test shows a ‘99.99 percent probability’ that Winans is the biological parent.” Documents filed in a Miami-Dade, Fla., court last Jan. 2 stated, “Mario Winans is obligated to pay Janel Bennett $4,500 per month due on the first of each month as child support.” Bennett told us, “He hasn’t paid me. I just wanted support, and I was on disability and Medicaid and welfare just to have the baby.” She said that after telling Winans she was pregnant, he disappeared from her life. Friends of Winans confirmed to Page Six that his current girlfriend, Joy — the mother of his toddler daughter, Sklyar — is known publicly as his “wife.” Bennett said, “Joy lives in a 16-bedroom mansion and her daughter wears mink coats and Seven jeans, and my son doesn’t have boots to wear in the winter.”

She claimed Winans has only seen Jordan once, and “doesn’t send Christmas cards, doesn’t send him birthday cards, nothing.” Bennett met Winans — who leapt to fame in 2004 with his track, “I Don’t Wanna Know” — in 1997, through their mutual friend Sean “Diddy” Combs. Winans and Combs worked together at Bad Boy Records and Bennett was working on fashion consulting for Combs’ label, Sean Jean. Bennett said that for a while, Winans was sending her some money, but “he stopped paying last year . . . by the end of August 2007, I lost the house and moved to Chicago . . . I just want him to do right by Jordan . . . It would be so simple for him to call me so we could work something out.” Winans’ reps at Czar Entertainment and his lawyers had “no comment.” [ VIA PAGE SIX ]

The all-star lineup for the 2008 Essence Music Festival, held annually in New Orleans, has been announced! Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Jill Scott, Chris Rock, Morris Day and The Time, and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly are all slated to hit the stage in July for the weekend-long music festival. The festival, which takes place at the Louisiana Superdome, features three days of cultural celebrations and empowerment seminars and three nights of performances.

“This past year has been amazing for these talented performers and our audience will be thrilled to welcome them home for the ultimate Fourth of July weekend party,” said Michelle Ebanks, President, Essence Communications Inc.

The 2008 Essence Music Festival takes place from July 4th through July 6th.

The New York Post’s popular gossip column, Page Six is reporting that fashion mogul Kimora Lee Simmons might be pregnant with her third child.

Kimora Lee Simmons finally has her long-sought-after bun in the oven. The demanding diva has been trying for a child with her lover, Djimon Honsou, and sources say the two have finally made magic. “She’s pregnant,” a source told us. A rep for Simmons couldn’t get a hold of her client for five days. Simmons already has two children, Ming and Aoki, by ex-husband Russell Simmons.

Mar.10.2008 // Gnarls Barkley’s New Video “Run” May Cause Epileptic Seizures

According to Billboard, fans of Gnarls Barkley will have to rely on the likes of Youtube or another online alternative if they want to see their new video for Run. Popular music video station MTV released a statement saying that they will not be airing the video due to its failing of the Harding Test, guidelines established to prevent TV images from triggering epileptic seizures. Apparently the video has way too many strobe effects.

“I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but we’re having issues,” said Danger Mouse, one half of Gnarls Barkley. “I think (the video) is cool. It works for me. But I’m not necessarily that easily seasick. We can’t predict how people are going to interpret it.”

Gnarls’ new album The Odd Couple is set to be released on April 8th. A video for the second single, Who’s Gonna Save My Soul, is scheduled to be shot within the next week or so.

ATHLETE MARION JONES BEGINS SERVING PRISON SENTENCE » Former Olympic gold-medal winner Marion Jones started her 6-month sentence behind bars in a federal prison in Texas on Friday, reports People. Jones arrived a little before noon at the Federal Medical Center-Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.

As previously reported, the athlete will have to perform 800 hours of community service during her 6-month prison sentence. According to People, Jones, who used steroids distributed by the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative – the same lab that supplied steroids to athletes who included New York Yankees star Jason Giambi – is the first professional sports figure to receive prison time. CHEYENNE, Wyoming (CNN) — After losing Democratic contests in the delegate-rich states of Ohio and Texas this week, presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama won the Wyoming Democratic caucus Saturday. Obama led rival Sen. Hillary Clinton by 61 percent to 38 percent, with all of the precincts reporting. The caucus thrust the state, which has only 12 delegates, into the spotlight because the close race between Obama and Clinton means that every delegate counts.

Although Wyoming typically is not a stop for Democrats looking for delegates to clinch the party’s presidential nomination, its numbers could make a difference this year because of the delegate deadlock. With slightly more than 600 delegates left at stake, every remaining contest is crucial to both candidates. The two are separated by fewer than 100 delegates, CNN estimates, with Obama leading Clinton 1,527 to 1,428. CONTINUE READING
