Video Premiere: Teyana Taylor - “Google Me (Baby)”

Here’s the official video for Teyana Taylor’s debut single Google Me (Baby). I’m not hating or anything like that, but if you ask me, the “special effects” on this video look cheap. I could have done a better job with Windows Movie Maker and a digital camera with video recording capabilities. Anyway, if you are indeed checking for Pharrell’s newest protoge, her debut album From the Planet of Harlem is supposed to drop this Spring, but no definite date has been set.

O geez - this video made me dislike the song. The video looks cheap and she looked stiff while she was dancing.Totally not what I expected from the type of style and energy she has.

yeah it’s not coming up for me either, but i watched it somewhere else and had to come back and say my piece at t2w…..

yeah STAR TRAK must not have that much guap because the video looks incredibly, incredibly cheap. i been watching teyana for a real long time, her music is ridiculous, i’ve been waiting for this video to drop forever because i thought it was gonna be out of control, and not that the video is terrible… but it’s definitely not what i expected and i wanna say i’m a little disappointed. there are aspects of the video that are just flat out terrible. the choreography had highs and lows, but all in all it was real flat and the dancers were not only terrible but kinda buttfaced. i don’t know what kind of budget star trak is working with, but Teyana Taylor is certainly worth a whole lot more than that. It’s not ALL bad…. but it’s definitely bad. Largely disappointed here.

The video was working earlier. World Star Hip Hop was the first site to release it and it got picked up by Perez Hilton (there’s a screenshot of the site in the video) and he linked it … so just imagine how much traffic that site got today lol.

Anyway, I’ve updated the post with a video from Youtube.

a video does not determine the success of ya career! record sales do! Her album is gonna be hot, dont mind this video! She was just having fun! Hopefully she will get Hype Williams on the next one!

You have to understand that the state of the music industry is one where labels are not recouping at the subsidiary level.

It has NOTHING to do with Pharrell & Star Trak.

I worked on Fam-Lay’s “Beeper” video (not on the set but in the actual creation of it) and what you do not know is that S.T. does not budget for videos - Interscope does. So blame Interscope.

In fact, there were two separate versions of the “Beeper” video and Pharrell came out of his own pocket for the Hype version. So yes, that proves that he cares about his artists because not even 50 was willing to do that for me (and I speak from experience). But I am sure Pharrell learned from his previous mistake, as Fam-Lay never dropped which equals money lost and not gained.

I could go on and on, however, coming from the industry, it looks as if the effects [post] were made to look a little cheap - purposely.

The video is fine.

If people only knew the real reason behind these mediocre videos, no one would complain.

WACK. I`m from VA 757 where the neptunes are from and that mess they put out is horrible. The beat is wack, first off. That girl is…wack. And ok the video did look cheap, but Neptunes didn’t have anything to do with that aspect. But the beat! That was all them and it was horrible. It sounded like something my cuzzin made on his beat machine. The song…wack. Lyrics don’t have any substance or meaning… I ain’t googling nothing! Google should sue her for slander!

I think they made the video look horrible on purpose she has like this madonna/80’s/Cyndi Lauper style, so that cheap look was most likely done porposely. However, I do think that they could have done a better job at achieving that same feel more tastefully and keeping up with today’s standards. The song is bad and the video is bad; so, I will not be googling ol girl.

@JADE

The Neptunes did not produce the song - it was produced by Jazze Pha.

I’m not really feeling the song and I expected much more from her since she’s the “princess of Star Trak” or whatever. LOL She could’ve worked with another producer and came out with a better single. And YES this video looks incredibly cheap. If her mother could afford that birthday party, I would be trying to invest and making the BEST video I possible could for my very first single. SMH What is wrong with people?

I have to disagree with “Anonymous” because a song can totally suck ASS, but if you have a banging video, it’ll start to grow on people and they’ll eventually start liking the song. Music videos are supposed to tell the story of the song. Heck, that’s what making music videos is all about!

@Jaida

You can disagree with me if you would like…

But I am in the business of music videos.
-

It is like your disagreeing with Kobe on how to dribble a basketball - he dribbles one daily and does so quite well.

Do you get my point? It is odd to disagree with someone who actually knows everything about the business of music and music videos.

“Music videos are supposed to tell the story of the song. Heck, that’s what making music videos is all about!”

Nah, not really.

Case in point… 90% of videos that are out.

Umm. Ok. I stumbled upon her “Sweet 16″ a while ago on MTV and I was semi impressed (despite the fact that she had a “everybody owes me something” attitude.) I was sort of looking forward to a bangin Star Trek song and “her people” decide to drop this? Poor decision. If you are with Star Trek, why not drop a song with the main producers on the label?

Ok, ok.

I’m asking too many questions that will never get answered, so I’m out

Holla.

I like teyana and her style and everything but this video is not good at all!
i think teyana is capible of so much more, interscope/star trak or watever made a bad decision on this video they coulda came up with more money than this now. i think this video can really ruin her career because i most definitley cant imagine this on television.

ya’ll don’t know what the hell ya’ll talkin about, especially about the Beyonce thing….if you read up on Teyana, you’d know that the girl choreographed BEYONCE’S “Ring The Alarm” Video and has danced In Jay-Z’s video “Blue Magic”, Vogued on BET’s RIP THE RUNWAY, And she’s the one that made the Chicken Noodle Soup Dance blow up, the girl can sing and rap..Check her out on imeem.com, look for “Boy You & Me”, “Swagg”, “Traffic Stop”, “Really Got It Bad”….I just love this girl and refuse to let anyone bash her without knowing the facts, the girl is already a celebrity wether ya’ll dumb fucks know it or not !
