LeBron James is on the cover of the August 2008 issue of TIME Magazine. He’s currently working hard to push towards the gold medal in the 2008 Men’s Basketball Olympics in Beijing. He talks a little bit about how proud he was to represent the creator of basketball [USA]:
LEBRON: “It’s going to be like waking up on Christmas Day,” says James picturing himself on the stand being presented Beijing’s gold medal. “All you dreamed about this whole month was having that bike you wanted, and you get down to your living room — it’s there. It’s like one of the greatest things that has ever happened to you.”
TIME MAGAZINE: So you’re going to bring a hoops title back home to the U.S., the country that gave birth to the game, reared it and then lost the ball to more graceful global neighbors?
LEBRON: “Absolutely,” James responds. Guarantee it? “Absolutely.”
The USA Basketball Senior Team got off to a great start in the 2008 Men’s Basketball Olympics last night and made me very proud! Although LeBron James was injured with a sprained ankle for the challenge the team still did wonders on the court without him beating Canada by 55 (120-65)!!! Imagine if LeBron James was playing! Coach Mike Krzyzewski said he wanted Dwyane Wade as emergency backup just in case something happened to Kobe Bryant or LeBron James. The backup [Dwayne Wade] kicked into overdrive in the challenge against Canada scoring 20 points in his first game in 4 months. Chris Paul, who had 11 points and 8 assists, talked about Wade’s perservance:
“D-Wade is a warrior to anybody who knows him. He’s been rehabbing and he’s been working out probably more than anybody, just trying to get back in shape,” Chris Paul said. “That’s D-Wade. We see it every day in practice and you saw it tonight, that he’s back. When he’s aggressive like that, we’re a dangerous team.”
A few days ago, Rick Ross was accused of being a correctional officer before he made it big to the rap game. Trick Daddy supposedly said something about it recently and the interviewer asked Rick Ross about it and he definitely had a mixed response! Check out the video above!
PHOTO: GETTY IMAGES According to MTV, 50 Cent filed a lawsuit against Taco Bell Corp. for making him an unauthorized spokesman for a recent ad campaign the restaurant chain was promoting. 50 and his defense attorneys filed a lawsuit for “unjust promotion”. Supposedly the company addressed a letter to 50 asking him to change his stage name from “50 Cent” to either “79, 89 or 99 Cent”. In the letter, this is what the company proposed:
“We know that you adopted the name 50 Cent years ago as a metaphor for change. We at Taco Bell are also huge advocates for change. We encourage you to ‘Think Outside the Bun’ and hope you accept our offer.”

Here is the T2W video premiere of Shwayze’s current single “Corona & Lime” from their upcoming self-entitled album Shwayze (Suretone/Geffen). Bow Wow is currently working on his seventh recording album, Pedigree, which is set to be released in stores this Fall 2008. He already has a single out featuring Soulja Boy titled “♫ Marco Polo”. His long time male role model and producer, Jermaine Dupri, was ejected in some of Bow Wow’s previous projects but Bow Wow has repaired those “misunderstandings”:
“He’s my father,” Bow Wow said. “He’s the dude when you in the crib and have your arguments, you move out the crib. … But me and JD are back tight again. We hanging out every day. I’m putting him on this song Swizz Beatz did for me called ‘Big Bank Take Little Bank.’ I’m trying to throw him on there right now. Y’all gonna see JD on the album even if he just gets on there and says, ‘Y’all know what this is!’ He’s gonna be a part of it even if I have to drag him.”
The very first WNBA brawl involved on of the most respected WNBA teams, The Los Angeles Sparks, in yesterday’s game against the Detroit Shocks. Candace Parker, Lisa Leslie and Plnette Pearson were all involved in a brawl and were ejected from the court moments after. The Los Angeles Sparks also took the victory of the game by 3 points (84-81).
(PHOTO: WIREIMAGE) A federal appeals court threw out the fine of $550,000 “indecency” fine to CBS for the 2004 halftime show at the Superbowl. As we all know and the rest of America, Janet Jackson performed then Justin Timberlake came out and at the end of the set Justin reached and grabbed for Janet’s costume and ripped apart of the wardrobe and exposing Janet’s breast. The reason that the courts decided not to fine because they felt that the FCC jumped so hard into trying to fine for high amounts of money before investigating the situation and they never notified the courts of such high amounts of money due to the viewer rate. I feel this has gone on for too long, 4 years to be exact, and I’m tired of it. I still dislike Justin Timberlake for this performance. And for him to bring this back up at the ESPYs upset me all over again. I’m glad CBS weren’t fined for this.
The throwback video of the day is Janet Jackson’s sixth single, “The Pleasure Principle”, from her breaking debut album Control in 1986. This is video that made me fall in love with Janet Jackson when I was only 5 years old. MTV’s hit dance show, America’s Best Dance Crew, honored Janet in this week’s episode by performing six of her songs in the recent challenge. Enjoy the throwback of the day…I know I will!
JD posted a video of Living The Life the other day challenging Elliott Yamin to hoop on the court in the studio. That’s wild that he has a basketball court in the SoSoDef recording studio. I see JD was rockin’ the new Mikes [all six rings]. I dig that Lakers shirt Elliott Yamin got on too. JD & Elliott got game! Check out the video above!
Justin Timberlake hosted the 2008 ESPY Awards last night and from the looks of it, the show looked to be very eventful! JT performed and joked all night long and presented awards to some of the best athletes in the various sports categories. There were many nominees, presenters and categories at the ESPYs, but to find out who won you’ll have to tune in to the show once it airs on July 20th @ 8PM on ESPN. Check out more photos from the show below and after the cut.
