Biggie’s son, CJ Wallace, got an amazing opportunity to ring the opening bell of the NASDAQ stock market yesterday morning in New York City. His grandmother, Voletta Wallace, was there as well to support the fallen rapper’s son, who is also is her grandson. CHARLES BARKLEY ARRESTED FOR SUSPICION OF DUI » Your boy Charles Barkley was busted by the cops because they suspected he was driving under the influence of alcohol a couple of weeks ago in Phoenix, Arizona. An officer spotted Sir Charles as he ran a stop sign at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2008 in Scottsdale’s Old Town area, a reportedly trendy spot in the Phoenix area. But anyway, when the news hit the web, the former NBA star immediately released a statement to the press:

“I am disappointed that I put myself in that situation,” Barkley said in a statement to The Associated Press. “The Scottsdale police were fantastic. Now it is a legal matter and I will not comment any further as it is a legal matter.”

According to reports, 45-year-old Barkley failed field sobriety tests after the officer who pulled him over smelled alcohol on his breath. He was subsequently arrested, but refused to submit to a breath test. He was instead given a blood test, of which the results aren’t available yet. After a short time in jail, Barkley was cited and released. Police described Barkley as cooperative, and to make sure people didn’t give them the “side-eye,” they mentioned that it was customary to release people after a DUI arrest.

And what about Barkley’s reason for being in the area? You know that whole, “You have the right to remain silent” mumbo jumbo? Charles apprently didn’t give a f**k because he told police he was on the way to receive a favor from a friend of his, or as he so eloquently put it, to go “get a bl** job.” He said he had been there a week before, but she gave him “the beset one he ever had in his life,” and he was looking to for a second round that night.

No word on if the police actually asked Barkley where he was going or if Barkley just decided he wanted to tell the po-po of his whereabouts. We’ll let you know as soon as we do!

LISTEN: RIHANNA - “BAD GIRL”

Rihanna and Chris Brown have a brand new song together. It’s called “Bad Girl,” and is produced by Polow Da Don. One thing to note about this track is that instead of doing his usual singing, Chris Brown decided to try his hand at rapping by spitting a few tired lines. Note to Chris: Do what you do best, and don’t try this rapping sh*t ever again! Other than that … the song seems to be pretty cool. The beat’s catchy. My only beef (besides Chris’ subpar rapping) was that I felt like the song ended before it really began. The beat started up, Rihanna did her little thing, Chris did his “rapping” thing … and then that was it. Anyway, you know how we do around here … ROCK IT OR DROP IT?!

PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA REVEALS ECONOMIC RECOVER PLAN IN D.C. » There’s no doubt that President-Elect Barack Obama has a lot on his agenda when he officially enters the office on Jan. 20th, but for now he is working hard with his administration on creating a plan to help bring America’s economy back on its feet. He began his campaign on Monday for a tremendous package of tax cuts and spending proposals to boost an economy that was officially confirmed as being in a recession last year.  A tax cut in the amount of  $300 billion dollars will be proposed for individuals and businesses. The President-elect has not put a price tag on the overall amount for his stimulus plan, however his advisers expect the amount to fall between $675 billon and $775 billion.  It is also known that 40%  of the amount would be in tax cuts. Several tax breaks are also being considered.

According to Barack Obama’s plan, he would offer a tax cut equal to $500 a year for individuals and $1,000 for couples.  The credit given would work as a payroll tax credit,  in other words the money would be distributed quickly because companies could reduce the tax withheld from employees’ paychecks.

Puerto Rico has a new governor, and married celebrity couple Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were spotted by the paparazzi as they left their vehicle and entered the Capitol building in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Governor Luis Fortuno had his inauguration ceremony. The appear to be very serious and really don’t look happy to be out and about together, which definitely correlates with rumors of them publicly calling it quits on Valentine’s Day. In what started out as an unconfirmed rumor, we can now officially report that young rapper Soulja Boy was actually robbed at gunpoint outside of his Georgia home last week following the release party for his sophomore album, iSouljaBoyTellem. Rumors began to circulate across the internet that the 18-year-old rapper, who recently released a video stating that he believes Nas killed hip-hop, and members of his entourage were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint last Tuesday night (Dec. 30th) after six unnamed men invaded his home.

The next day, a video was leaked to the internet featuring two masked men who claimed responsibility for the attack. In the video, the two guys bragged about how they followed Soulja Boy from his album release party, which was held on December 30, 2008. They also cleared up some misconceptions about the robbery, stating that instead of six people being armed with pistols and AK-47s, the crime was completed between the two of them, using only one lone weapon.

But of course, the fans and the media blew the video off, marking it as a rumor. However, a rep from Soulja Boy’s camp confirmed the incident to AllHipHop.com, stating that it actually did take place, but provided no further details. The only information they provided to the popular hip-hop news site was that the crime was “a serious situation.”

Rapper/singer/actress Queen Latifah was robbed last Monday (Dec. 29th), and thieves stole over $10,000 worth of jewelry from her luxury villa in Tobago. Investigators believe the theft was an inside job and may have been committed by a member of the house and grounds staff at Stone Haven Villas in Black Rock Tobago.

According to reports published by Trinidad and Tobago’s newsday, investigators said there was no forced entry into the villa, where the Oscar nominated actress was staying for Christmas with a female friend. Queen was reportedly upset over the incident, stating that the jewelry had sentimental value and that she was willing to offer whoever returns it a reward.

Good help is hard to find these days… You can’t even trust paid security guards anymore.

Oscar-nominated actor John Travolta and his family suffered a major loss Friday, January 2nd 2009, when his teenage son died after a seizure while on a family vacation in the Bahamas. 16-year-old Jett Travolta, who had a history of seizures, had an episode on Friday morning. According to reports published by CNN, he died on the scene, and all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

According to sources, Jett was last seen going into the bathroom at the family’s private suite at the Old Behama Bay Resort. The caretaker, Jeff Michael Kathrein, discovered Jett’s body, and a police spokeswoman later confirmed that Jett hit his head in a bathtub.

Please keep the Travolta family in your thoughts and prayers at this obviously painful time. We here at Gossip On This offer our condolences.

According to People.com, rapper/producer Dr. Dre’s son, Andre Young Jr, apparently died of an heroin & morphine overdose. The drug test results had been pending for four months and it has now been confirmed by the LA County Coroner’s office on Friday.

“This case has been closed, it’s been ruled an accident due to morphine and heroin intoxication,” coroner spokesman Larry Dietz told People.

On the morning of August 23, 2008, Andre, 20, was found unresponsive by his mother in their home located in Woodland Hills, CA.  Paramedics pronounced Young dead at the scene. His mother Jenita Porter told investigators that her son had been out late that night with his friends and recalls hearing him snoring around 5:30 a.m.

Someone please tell right wing and controversial political commenter Ann Coulter to stop drinking on that “hatorade” because it’s definitely not a good look for her. Apparently she’s been saying some not so nice things about President-elect Barack Obama’s wife Michelle Obama.  According to her latest book which is said to be published next week, titled “Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and their Assault on America,” she accuses the liberal left of playing the victims when in fact of course they are the victimizers.

But wait … the fun doesn’t stop there.  She then goes on to bash Mrs. Obama about her choice of style in which she says she is an imitation of Jackie O’s personal style.  Jackie O was the first lady and wife of President John F. Kennedy.

Coulter wrote, “Her obvious imitation of Jackie O’s style - the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls - would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint.”

Better luck next time Beyonce!  Sources are reporting that Jennifer Hudson is being courted to perform at the swearing in of  President-elect Barack Obama which will take place on January 20th, 2009.  If in fact she does choose to perform during the ceremony this will be her first appearance since the brutal murders of her mother, brother, and nephew back in October of last year.

“Organizers want Jennifer to sing ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ at the Inauguration on Jan. 20,” a source told Page Six. “They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama supporter.”

Jennifer also sang the National Anthem at the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August.

I hope Jennifer does decide to do the honors at the inauguration. Who would want to miss the chance to become a part of such an historical event?!

He isn’t due for sentencing until January 30th 2009, but the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office says X is expected to receive a minimum 90 days in jail and will receive no credit for time served. Once he gets out, he will be on probation, and if he violates his probation, he could get more than 10 years behind bars. In addition to staying off of drugs while on probation, he’s not allowed to own pets or firearms. The pets and firearms thing sounds pretty plausible, but staying clean? Unless he gets some serious help, home boy just might be serving that 10-year sentence VERY soon.

We all are probably making the ever-popular “New Year Resolution’s,” and there is nothing wrong with setting some goals and standards for a new plateau of our lives. And we all know one of those goals will most likely be weight loss … which brings us to this video from 19% @ YoutTube. The young lady was at Block Buster and picked up a Hannah Montana cookie that had a strange label telling the target audience for the product (8-13 years of age) that if they worked out for 30 minutes they’d lose 80 calories if they weighed 70Lbs.  CRAZY!!! The mogul’s planned hotel venture, J Hotels, was scheduled to break ground this year, but unfortunately, it has been postponed indefinitely, in conjunction with New York’s real estate development market taking a heavy hit. The hotel acquired a $66 million mid-block parcel in Chelsea, NY, and Charles Blaichman, one of Jay-Z’s partners, said they had been seeking $370 million in loans and investments from various banks to begin construction, but have not been successful.

“A year ago it would have seemed a reasonable amount. Not now,” said Blaichman. “Even the banks who want to give us money can’t.”

But Blaichman is optimistic, hoping that his plans have been delayed, instead of cancelled.

“It’s one of the greatest stretches of undeveloped areas,” he told the Times. “I still think it’s going to take off.”

Analysts predict with the state of the economy, it may be another two years before any new buildings pop up on the NYC skyline.

After more than a year of dating, America’s Next Top Model winner Eva Marcille and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne star Lance Gross are engaged. They discussed the details in a recent interview with Essence Magazine, in which they revealed that Lance popped the question, on bended knee of course, in front of family and friends on Christmas Eve.

On Wednesday, December 24, while vacationing with their families at the couple’s favorite winter getaway spot—the Big Bear ski resort in the San Bernardino Mountains outside of Los Angeles—Marcille and Gross decided to open gifts after dinner in their rented cabin. When Marcille opened her gift—a pillow with a note attached that read: “Hope you like it. Give this pillow to the man you love and he will explain.” After taking the pillow and using it as a cushion, Gross got on bended knee and popped the big question with a 3.36-carat 1895 Pave Cartier ring at 11:30 P.M. PST.

“I was in a complete state of shock!” the 24-year-old Los Angeles native tells ESSENCE.com. “I cried. It was totally unexpected. I’m still in shock. I could not even sleep because I was afraid that I might wake up from the most beautiful dream ever.”

When spies spotted her vacationing in St. Barts, they described her as being zaftig, which by definition means, “a woman having a full rounded figure; plump.” They also mentioned that they have reliable sources who spotted her leaving an ob/gyn’s office at the beginning of December 2008, carrying what looked to be a sonogram, and when she emerged from the building, she was immediately greeted by her entourage with cheers and lots of excitement.
