Today marks the 7th anniversary of the untimely death of Aaliyah Haughton, a popular female R&B singer who had a music career spanning from the mid-nineties all the way up until the year 2001, when she was suddenly taken away from us due to a faulty airplane engine and an overloaded cabin. Ironically, a few days prior to today, a new video from Cassie was released. And within the first few seconds of watching the video I could point out elements of Aaliyah’s style right off. I didn’t even have to look that hard.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Cassie is a pretty girl. No, let me take that back. Cassie is a VERY pretty girl. I’ve always said that she should stick to modeling and just leave the singing thing along because I can never take her seriously as a singer/entertainer. I’m sorry, but that’s just the way it is. But the fact that the people behind her are even CONSIDERING molding her into a 2008 version of Aaliyah is appalling and a little heartbreaking, with me being a huge Aaliyah fan back in the day and all. The Internet helped launch you, but it’s also home to extremely harsh anonymous sh*t-talkers. How do you feel about that?
Cassie: I love it.

Cassie: I do. It’s ammunition. I used to be really offended by it. It didn’t motivate me before; I didn’t get that concept. I get it now. At this point, the ridiculousness of the Internet and the things that people say—it’s funny.
What’s the harshest thing that’s been said about you?
Cassie: “She’s f****ng for checks.” I don’t f**k for checks—I’d rather live on the street.
Lil Wayne is featured on the cover of the September 2008 issue of Blender Magazine. The Carter III, the latest album from the popular rapper is currenlty sitting in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 with over 2 million albums sold, in just under a few months!
Well gee, those engagement rumors about Diddy & Cassie didn’t take too long to squash, did they? I don’t even think it’s been a good 24 hours. Diddy’s rep told People:
“Contrary to tabloid reports, there is no engagement. This was a complete fabrication,” states Combs’s rep.
But wait, who’s that happy couple all hugged up on Mother’s Day? Hey, that’s Diddy and Cassie! Something tells me this isn’t the end of this whole “Diddy & Cassie” saga. Sean John knows his talent-less jump-off needs some promo for this upcoming album.

The 2008 BET Awards aired last night and yours truly is here to inform you of the hottest (and not so hot) styles worn at the award show. Some of the best dressed female celebs of the night were Rihanna, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. Rihanna wore a neon yellow Giambattista Valli dress from his spring/summer 2008 line, Gabrielle Union wore a gorgeous white Celine Vonn dress, Jennifer Hudson wore A brown Peter Soronen corset dress, and Alicia Keys wore a strapless pink David Meister David Meister dress with Melody Ehsani Hate/Love Rings. Don’t ya’ll remember when Cassie first stepped on the scene with this hot track, “Me & U”, which everybody fell in love with. Well, it looks like the rumors will start again with photos recently released by G Syle Magazine showing the two getting mighty cozy in New York on Mother’s Day as they watched a display by street dancers.

Cassie just posted a new video on her MySpace blog shouting out to her fans. Letting them know she’s on location at her video shoot for her latest single, “Official Girl”. This video has to be at least a week old since we have pics of her on set of Official Girl. Check out the video above and following links.
R&B singer and producer Ryan Leslie has posted a new track on his MySpace page. The track is titled Addiction. Cassie is on the record with the chorus vocals. I wouldn’t be surprised if this were to become the second single. Ryan Leslie’s self-titled album, Ryan Leslie (Next Selection), is due in stores June 17th.
