Usher performing “In This Club” as the opener for the 2008 BET Awards, which aired last night live from Los Angeles.
The 2008 BET Awards went down last night, and while there were a few lackluster performances (Usher’s being one of them), there were a few memorable, surprising, and exciting moments. One being Alicia Keys’ performance when she brought out SWV, En Vogue, and TLC! Another notable performance of the evening was Ne-Yo’s, where he showed us he can hang with the big dogs when it comes to his dance moves - he even brought out the Jabbawockees (winners of MTV’s America’s Dance Crew). Chris Brown did his thing as well, and surprised everyone when he brought out Ciara. Did Rihanna approve of this beforehand? I’m curious to know. And speaking of Rihanna, did anyone else notice how far she’s come along, as far as her live vocals? I was really impressed when she performed Take A Bow! And last, but most certainly not least, on my list of the best performances of the night, Lil’ Wayne! He kind of scared me towards the end of the show because it seemed like he wasn’t going to come out. The show was already running 15 or 20 minutes over when he was introduced. But he did come out, and he showed us exactly how and why he has sold nearly 1,500,000 copies of Tha Carter: III so far! He started out with Got Money (feat. T-Pain), paid homage to Static Major (R.I.P.) with Lollipop, and ended off his performance with A Millie. He had the whole crowd hyped, and ended off the show perfectly.
While the 2008 BET Awards did have its good moments, much of the show left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I expected a lot more from Usher. His performance was probably the most hyped up (pre-show), and ended up being one of the absolute worst of the night. While I love Keyshia Cole’s Heaven Sent, she really needs to work on her live vocals … and her stage presence. She had a lot of energy, she just didn’t know how to keep it all together. She looked like she was doing too much to me.
In my opinion, the 2007 BET Awards were much better. The performances, the overall show, and oh yeah … the host! Who the hell approved of D.L. Hughley being the host of this year’s show? I hope they received a pink slip in their box this morning. BRING MO’NIQUE BACK!!!

Here’s another T2W video premiere of the latest single from Nelly, “Stepped On My Jays” featuring Jermaine Dupri & Ciara. Nelly’s new album, Brass Knuckles, will be stores in August 19th. Check it out above!
New music from Ciara has been leaked once again. This track is titled, “Supernatural”, which is produced by Ne-Yo. This track is supposedly to be on Ciara’s upcoming three disc set album, Fantasy Ride (Jive/Zomba) which is due in stores this September.
New music from Ciara has hit the web and I’m diggin’ this new track that’s out. I can imagine the video for this if Ciara was to deem this new track, “Click”, as her 1st single from her upcoming album Fantasy Ride (Jive/Zomba). This track is a hot track but I don’t think this will be the first single. Check out the following link below. Tell me what ya’ll think of the track.
Jermaine Dupri aka JD has posted another video on his official YouTube channel recording raw footage of the video shoot of Nelly’s second single, “Stepped On My Js”. JD invited Atlanta Hawks’ star player Josh Smith to come to the video shoot. Ciara also made an appearance on the set. Ya’ll gotta see how many raw Jordans’ this man got! Dustin do you got these…lol! Check out the video above!
Ciara is working on her third album, Fantasy Ride (Jive/Zomba), and it’s said to be the most intuitive yet.
The packaged album will come with three separate discs for their feel to the album. The first disc will be titled “Groove City” which will have sensually seductive songs like “Promise”. The second disc will be titled “Crunktown” which will be similar to hits like “Goodies” and “That’s Right”. The final disc will be titled “Kingdom Of Dance” which is supposed to showcase Ciara house-like, freestyle cuts.
Ciara is teaming up with the infamous Tricky Stewart, who produced people from Rihanna’s “Umbrella” to Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body”. Ciara should have an official single in June according to her label. Album due in September.
Here is a brand new leaked track from Nelly’s forthcoming album, Brass Knuckles (Derrty/Universal), which will be in stores this Summer. The song, Stepped On My Js, features Ciara as well as Jermaine Dupri who produced on the track; it also features a sample from J-Kwon’s (remember him?) Tispy. The song is alrite, I mean it wouldn’t particularly be single material, though.
Ciara has a new track that has leaked and supposedly is going to be the first single and on her new album, Fantasy Ride. The titled of the track is titled, “High Price” featuring Ludacris. When I hear this song, there’s is no “Ciara” vibe. This is not a track you would expect from Ciara but it has similar bass lines to one of her previous tracks, “Oh”, which is also featuring Ludacris. I guess I’ll let you guys decide for yourselves. Click the following link to listen.
(Photos: Ben Rose / Wire Image) Hotlanta was full of unsigned talent and the biggest names in hip-hop Thursday night (Apr. 24th). Atlanta’s Luckie Lounge was host to the 11th Annual BMI Atlanta Unsigned Urban Showcase, which featured performances from Lil’ Wayne, Sean Garrett and Teyana Taylor. But Usher, Lil Scrappy, Polow Da Don, Lil John, and a host of celebrities (from Atlanta and beyond) came out just to party!
JD1472 also known as Jermaine Dupri posted a video on YouTube of a new track from Nelly featuring Ciara, “Steppin’ On My Jays” from his upcoming album Brass Knuckles (Derrty/Universal) I get the feel that this is his sequel to his song, Air Force Ones. I can’t wait to see the music video to this track. I’m pretty sure this is the second single or J.D. wouldn’ve posted it. Click play on this video above.
Ludacris has recently enlisted Ciara to help him with his youth club called the Ludacris Foundation. Ludacris started this youth club to help young kids instill what they call the “Principles of Success” and help build the community of our youth today. The club has been up since 2006 and still running. Visit the Ludacris Foundation official site below…
