The 5th Anniversary of Fashion Rocks! went down Friday night and the stars definitely came out and shined. Many celebrities came out to prove they can dress the best and the most…risky. Either way they still rocked the latest. Stars like Chris Brown, Rihanna, Ciara, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Brandy, Ashanti, Tyra Banks, and more all came out to show their love for fashion. Check out the best to the worst after the cut.
MIAMI, FLORIDA // SATURDAY, JUNE 28TH 2008 » On Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the “South Florida Summer Fest 2008†Concert featuring Birdman, DJ Khaled, Ace, Colby O’donis, Casley, Keyshia Cole, Akon, Lil’ Wayne and More live from The BankAtlantic Center. The show started at exactly 7:00 PM with opening acts Selena Serrano, S.O.U.R.C.E International Clique, Michelle Del Amore, Wyneter Gordon, and a bunch of local artists performing their radio hits like Grindmode’s “I’m so “High” and “Ecstasy“, Ball Greezy’s “Shoneâ€, Colby O’Donis’ “What you got“, and last but not least Casely (if you think Chris Brown, Usher and Ne-Yo imitate MJ alot, then you haven’t seen Casely live!) who performed really well, but WAY too long for an opening act, sang about 4 or 5 songs from his upcoming album 1985 including his radio hit “Emotional“.
Usher performing “In This Club” as the opener for the 2008 BET Awards, which aired last night live from Los Angeles.
The 2008 BET Awards went down last night, and while there were a few lackluster performances (Usher’s being one of them), there were a few memorable, surprising, and exciting moments. One being Alicia Keys’ performance when she brought out SWV, En Vogue, and TLC! Another notable performance of the evening was Ne-Yo’s, where he showed us he can hang with the big dogs when it comes to his dance moves - he even brought out the Jabbawockees (winners of MTV’s America’s Dance Crew). Chris Brown did his thing as well, and surprised everyone when he brought out Ciara. Did Rihanna approve of this beforehand? I’m curious to know. And speaking of Rihanna, did anyone else notice how far she’s come along, as far as her live vocals? I was really impressed when she performed Take A Bow! And last, but most certainly not least, on my list of the best performances of the night, Lil’ Wayne! He kind of scared me towards the end of the show because it seemed like he wasn’t going to come out. The show was already running 15 or 20 minutes over when he was introduced. But he did come out, and he showed us exactly how and why he has sold nearly 1,500,000 copies of Tha Carter: III so far! He started out with Got Money (feat. T-Pain), paid homage to Static Major (R.I.P.) with Lollipop, and ended off his performance with A Millie. He had the whole crowd hyped, and ended off the show perfectly.
While the 2008 BET Awards did have its good moments, much of the show left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I expected a lot more from Usher. His performance was probably the most hyped up (pre-show), and ended up being one of the absolute worst of the night. While I love Keyshia Cole’s Heaven Sent, she really needs to work on her live vocals … and her stage presence. She had a lot of energy, she just didn’t know how to keep it all together. She looked like she was doing too much to me.
In my opinion, the 2007 BET Awards were much better. The performances, the overall show, and oh yeah … the host! Who the hell approved of D.L. Hughley being the host of this year’s show? I hope they received a pink slip in their box this morning. BRING MO’NIQUE BACK!!!

The 2008 BET Awards aired last night and yours truly is here to inform you of the hottest (and not so hot) styles worn at the award show. Some of the best dressed female celebs of the night were Rihanna, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. Rihanna wore a neon yellow Giambattista Valli dress from his spring/summer 2008 line, Gabrielle Union wore a gorgeous white Celine Vonn dress, Jennifer Hudson wore A brown Peter Soronen corset dress, and Alicia Keys wore a strapless pink David Meister David Meister dress with Melody Ehsani Hate/Love Rings. I also loved Alicia’s Sergio Rossi heels. Keep reading for more styles from the show. CONTINUE READING

In this edition of “Who Owns the Look” we have Singers Keyshia Cole and Rihanna rocking the same $525 Giuseppe Zanotti Satin crystal toe flats. Rihanna wore the flats first while spotted in NYC this week, while Keyshia wore them while making an appearance on the David Letterman Show. So we must ask the question … WHO OWNS THE LOOK?
In this edition of “Who Owns the Look” we have Singer Keyshia Cole and TV Star Kim Kardashian rocking the same $325 Diane Von Furstenberg Zig Zag Dress. Kim wore the dress first while appearing at the National Lampoon’s Premier of “One, Two, Many“, while Keyshia rock’d it this week at the “If Looks Could Kill” launch party. So we must ask the question … WHO OWNS THE LOOK?
WHO OWNS THE LOOK? KEYSHIA COLE OR KIM KARDASHIAN?
Here’s the video for Pain, The Game’s new single featuring R&B songstress Keyshia Cole. Word on the sidewalk is that home boy is trying to recruit the dude that knocked Suge Knight senseless to his record label.
“He’s the Knockout Kid. We was looking for him, we found him, and trying to sign him. (Suge’s) not a boxer. It’s not like he’s Muhammad Ali, and he’s been in the game and somebody finally beats you. Suge, back in the day, he had it locked in Los Angeles. But now, your time comes and goes, and you have to respect the new breed, and now that’s me.
I got L.A. locked, and 10 years from now there will be a new dude. Ten years from now, when I’m 40, there’s gonna be a new kid and I gotta respect that dude. Hopefully, the Knockout Kid’s little brother don’t hit me or something … or step to me. I don’t want no problems with the Knockout Kid.”
Here West-coast rapper The Game, as well as R&B singer Keyshia Cole, can be heard on his new single Pain from his forthcoming album L.A.X. (Los Angeles Times) in all markets June 24th, 2008! I like the song, it’s like a little homage to all the people that paved the way for them, even Keyshia shouts out Mary J. Blige at the end, even though people say she “bites” off of her which is lame! However came up with that word needs to get shot immediately.
FINE-NAL-LY! I kept hearing this song on the radio all the time and lately going crazzzy, this song is my shit, Boyfriend/Girlfriend by C-Side featuring Keyshia Cole.
Y’all know it’s that time of the year again. Spring Bling 2008, BET’s annual spring break celebration, was filmed this year in Riviera Beach, Florida. You already know this shit is gonna be on repeat for the next couple of months. So until that happens, maybe these flicks will hold you over!
Singer Fergie and Movie Director Quentin Tarantino celebrated their birthdays in Sin City at The Mirage Hotel and Casino on Thursday night. Celebs like Vivica A. Fox, Polow Da Don, Nelly, Keyshia Cole and many more came out to party with the pair. Looks like they had a lot of fun!
By far the best song off of Keyshia Cole’s sophomore album Just Like You finally has its own video! But don’t get too excited. The video is a big snooze. Heaven Sent, the video for the 4th single off the album premiered on BET’s Access Granted today. Even though the whole idea of filming the video for a ballad like this on a deserted island is way past played out, Keyshia looks hella fine! I’m really glad she let go of the orange highlights in her hair. But back to the video, if I wanted to watch random fading clips of mountains, oceans, and jungles, I would click on one of those annoying screensaver ads you see on some sites and download away. I’m just saying. Benny Boom, c’mon … I know you can do better than that!
Oh well, there’s not much we can do about it now. I believe this will be the final single off the album, just in time for everything to settle down for the Christmas 2008 release of her third album. Can’t wait! Just don’t give us crappy videos like this, ever again.
