We already know DMX has been arrested like 18 or 19 times this week (I stopped counting … hell, I didn’t even post about it ’cause I didn’t give a damn. But if you care, click here. But anyway, who’s the young rapper in the pic above getting detained by the cops?
This is the T2W premiere of Lil Wayne’s video for his second single, “A Milli”, off his latest album The Carter 3 which is in stores NOW so go out and support!
MIAMI, FLORIDA // SATURDAY, JUNE 28TH 2008 » On Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the “South Florida Summer Fest 2008” Concert featuring Birdman, DJ Khaled, Ace, Colby O’donis, Casley, Keyshia Cole, Akon, Lil’ Wayne and More live from The BankAtlantic Center. The show started at exactly 7:00 PM with opening acts Selena Serrano, S.O.U.R.C.E International Clique, Michelle Del Amore, Wyneter Gordon, and a bunch of local artists performing their radio hits like Grindmode’s “I’m so “High” and “Ecstasy“, Ball Greezy’s “Shone”, Colby O’Donis’ “What you got“, and last but not least Casely (if you think Chris Brown, Usher and Ne-Yo imitate MJ alot, then you haven’t seen Casely live!) who performed really well, but WAY too long for an opening act, sang about 4 or 5 songs from his upcoming album 1985 including his radio hit “Emotional“.
Diddy still has some dues to pay to Ciroc for not sticking to their deal and promoting their brand to the fullest, so he and the Vodka company threw an afterparty for the 2008 BET Awards Tuesday night in L.A. at the Roosevelt Hotel. Guestlist included: Lil’ Kim, Lil Wayne, Michelle Williams, Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, Ashanti, and more! Follow the break for more flicks from the shindig…
Usher performing “In This Club” as the opener for the 2008 BET Awards, which aired last night live from Los Angeles.
The 2008 BET Awards went down last night, and while there were a few lackluster performances (Usher’s being one of them), there were a few memorable, surprising, and exciting moments. One being Alicia Keys’ performance when she brought out SWV, En Vogue, and TLC! Another notable performance of the evening was Ne-Yo’s, where he showed us he can hang with the big dogs when it comes to his dance moves - he even brought out the Jabbawockees (winners of MTV’s America’s Dance Crew). Chris Brown did his thing as well, and surprised everyone when he brought out Ciara. Did Rihanna approve of this beforehand? I’m curious to know. And speaking of Rihanna, did anyone else notice how far she’s come along, as far as her live vocals? I was really impressed when she performed Take A Bow! And last, but most certainly not least, on my list of the best performances of the night, Lil’ Wayne! He kind of scared me towards the end of the show because it seemed like he wasn’t going to come out. The show was already running 15 or 20 minutes over when he was introduced. But he did come out, and he showed us exactly how and why he has sold nearly 1,500,000 copies of Tha Carter: III so far! He started out with Got Money (feat. T-Pain), paid homage to Static Major (R.I.P.) with Lollipop, and ended off his performance with A Millie. He had the whole crowd hyped, and ended off the show perfectly.
While the 2008 BET Awards did have its good moments, much of the show left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I expected a lot more from Usher. His performance was probably the most hyped up (pre-show), and ended up being one of the absolute worst of the night. While I love Keyshia Cole’s Heaven Sent, she really needs to work on her live vocals … and her stage presence. She had a lot of energy, she just didn’t know how to keep it all together. She looked like she was doing too much to me.
In my opinion, the 2007 BET Awards were much better. The performances, the overall show, and oh yeah … the host! Who the hell approved of D.L. Hughley being the host of this year’s show? I hope they received a pink slip in their box this morning. BRING MO’NIQUE BACK!!!

Lil Wayne has plenty to celebrate Apparently, his entire album being leaked a week before his album dropped didn’t stop die hard Weezy fans from hitting up stores like Best Buy, CircuitCity, and Target on Tuesday for the release of his new album The Carter III. According to Billboard Magazine Weezy sold 423,000 copies in its first day of release (Mariah Carey sold 463,000 the first week) and is set to sell 850,000 to 950,000 copies the first week!
The excessive leaks and bootlegging of Lil Wayne’s new album haven’t prevented it from being a hot seller: The rapper’s “Tha Carter III” sold 423,000 copies in its first day of release, according to Billboard magazine, citing figures from Nielsen SoundScan.
With such sales, Lil Wayne is on pace to sell about 900,000 copies of the CD in its first week and post the best sales debut of the year. Last year’s first-week top-seller was from Kanye West, who sold some 957,000 copies of “Graduation.”
We won’t know the exact numbers until this weekend, but if this is true then Congrats Weezy! The Carter III is in stores NOW! Make sure you go out and support!
Janet Jackson recently talked her new book, “Me”, that’ll be in stores in November at a press conference and her new “Rock Withchu” Tour. Someone asked Janet about the next single. Janet responded:
“That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point. We started off with “Feedback” and the label and myself haven’t quite seen eye to eye since the “Feedback” single so they’ve kind of basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album.”
Here is another T2W video premiere, courtesy of our good friends over at WSHH, the song is called “Girls Around The World” by Lloyd, featuring Lil’ Wayne; it’s from his forthcoming album Lessons in Love (The Inc.). I heard this on the radio — not too long ago — and it’s very “whip-friendly” to me.
It’s crazy how much information you can find out just by watching videos on YouTube. It seems like more and more celebs are becoming “YouTubers” and are letting fans into their crazy but fun lifestyles. Bow Wow has just opened a new YouTube Channel where you can see him candidly living his life and best believe he’s living large. You can even see him filming sections of his upcoming film, “Patriots”, which star Bow Wow (of course), Lil’ Wayne, Forest Whitaker, Taraji P. Henderson and Isaiah Washington. If you didn’t know the film is based on a true story about a basketball team that faces the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Check out the following link below.
Here is brand new music from Lil’ Wayne, featuring Jay-Z, from his forthcoming album Tha Carter III (Cash Money/ Universal) in stores June 10, 2008.“Mr. Carter” was produced by DJ Infamous, the track could also be heard on his MySpace.
(Photos: Getty Images) BET is ready for yet another great award show this year and has released a list of nominees and performers for the upcoming 2008 BET Awards. The nominees and performers were announced live at a press conferenced presented by BET’s 106 & Park. Nelly, Mary J. Blige, Usher, and Lil Wayne are all confirmed as performers for this years’ show, which will go down on June 24th 2008 @ 8 PM.
(Photos: Ben Rose / Wire Image) Hotlanta was full of unsigned talent and the biggest names in hip-hop Thursday night (Apr. 24th). Atlanta’s Luckie Lounge was host to the 11th Annual BMI Atlanta Unsigned Urban Showcase, which featured performances from Lil’ Wayne, Sean Garrett and Teyana Taylor. But Usher, Lil Scrappy, Polow Da Don, Lil John, and a host of celebrities (from Atlanta and beyond) came out just to party!
The latest issue of Rolling Stone has just hit stands. The title of the magazine is The Best Of Rock 2008. I kind of think it’s a little too early to say the best of rock of a entire year but maybe it’s just me. They have featured artist from Chris Brown, Lil’ Wayne, Stargate, Madonna and more… Continue reading to see what they were nominated.
Usher’s album record sales are looking better and better everyday. He has a remix to his hit single, “Love In This Club” featuring Beyoncé and Lil’ Wayne. He’s calling it “Part II”, I wonder if there is more of these “parts” to this single. Then again, J.D. did mention possible featured tracks from Beyoncé and many others. Anyway, look for “Here I Stand” in stores May 27th. Add your own comment and let me know what you guys think!!!
