Mary J. Blige // Growing Pains » Growing Pains (Geffen) is the name of MJB’s new studio album which hits stores December 18 and includes the hit single “Just Fine” produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. The album starts off as this big celebration with the first single “Just Fine” that kind of gave me this Jackson vibe, I still think she shoulda got them on the remix or something, that’s a hot joint right there! Anyway GP continues to mid tempo and then to some real nice downbeat, classic ol’ school joints to say it best, that’s what it sounded like to me. Guest appearances for this LP includes Ne-Yo, Ludacris, and you know Mary had to get Usher on this project — he ripped that shed! Yes you should go get this album, the arrangements and production are pretty solid and Mary delivers as always! Two thumbs up! My favorites are “Roses,” “What Love Is” and “Come To Me (Peace).” AND “WORK THAT!” <3.
Apple debuted a new iPod / iTunes ad a few nights ago on television. The ad continues the silhouette dancer theme of Apple’s long running iPod ads and features Mary J. Blige singing “Work That” (her next single) from her new album Growing Pains, which is slated for a December 18th release. Peep the ad above. I think it’s definitely a good look for apple to start using R&B/Hip-Hop artists in their television ads!

Check out a mash-up video (above) of “Just Fine” featuring “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough!” As I said before, being a MJ fan myself, that “Just Fine” reminded me a lot of that song (as did the video). God, there will never be another Michael Jackson.

The 2007 American Music Awards went down last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The show was telecast live on CBS and featured performances from Fergie, Chris Brown, Beyonce (and Sugarland), Rihanna & Ne-Yo, and more. Winners included Justin Timberlake, T.I., Akon, Rihanna, and Beyonce, who won the most prestigious honor of the night! Beyonce took home the “International Star of the Year” award, an honor only previously given to Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Rod Stewart. This makes her the first female to ever win that award, which was presented by Usher (who fumbled through 95% of it I might add lol — what’s on his mind??). The video for this single, which was directed by the lead singer of the band, Gerard Way, is slated for release sometime later this year. Love MCR, can’t wait for this video, bet it’ll be highly interesting. That Liza Minnelli guest spot was unexpected.
Maroon 5 feat. Mary J. Blige » “Wake Up Call (Mark Ronson Remix)” » LISTEN » (Full) » You know what? I was shaky on this kind of collaboration, which is like apples and oranges here, but surprisingly, it’s digestible. I love M5 and MJB, so hearing the best of both worlds through my headphones, was ultra sweetness. And you know what, what? I feel this is just perfect, believe it or not. I feel like the tempo is just right and everything just flows so perfectly.
Chris Brown » “This Christmas” » LISTEN » (Full) » Here Chris Brown can be heard doing his own rendition of Hathaway’s “This Christmas” for the film of the same title. I thought I should just go ‘head and post this, since it’s the full quality, and I’m in a cheerful mood, I guess. I don’t know why, but it never really feels like Christmas to me for some reason, I do like this song, though.
Britney Spears » “Piece of Me” » LISTEN » (Full) » I wasn’t too zealous, at first, when I found out “Piece of Me” was going to be the second single when there were so many other great songs to choose from. But now I’ll admit it’s starting to grow on me, subsequently. Besides it’s time that she fight back, so yeah, I’m all for “Piece of Me” now!

Mary J. Blige does it again with this song, “Just Fine,” the first single lifted from her forthcoming studio album Growing Pains. The track was produced by Jazze Pha and Tricky Stewart, who is also responsible for Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” I think it’s a nice, feel good joint just like Mary said. I don’t know what it is, but I get Michael and Janet listening to this, that’s a good thing though! I love them - that’ll be so dope if Mary can get them on the remix! Forreal, how dope would that be?
