After the shooting at the celebrity party event, we thought it would ruin the week but it didn’t. Jermaine Dupri, Soulja Boy, Bow Wow, Nelly, Chris Tucker, Larenz Tate, Josh Smith, Kevin Hart, and many more played in the SoSoDef Vs. Derrty Ent. game last night at Morehouse College. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of the event but JD has uploaded yet another video to his YouTube Channel so enjoy!

The 2008 BET Awards aired last night and yours truly is here to inform you of the hottest (and not so hot) styles worn at the award show. Some of the best dressed female celebs of the night were Rihanna, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. Rihanna wore a neon yellow Giambattista Valli dress from his spring/summer 2008 line, Gabrielle Union wore a gorgeous white Celine Vonn dress, Jennifer Hudson wore A brown Peter Soronen corset dress, and Alicia Keys wore a strapless pink David Meister David Meister dress with Melody Ehsani Hate/Love Rings. I also loved Alicia’s Sergio Rossi heels. Keep reading for more styles from the show. CONTINUE READING

The spiraled “beef” with Ice-T making a statement about Soulja Boy killing Hip Hop has gotten out and Kanye West has something to say about it. On Kanye’s Blog he just wrote a post about how he felt towards what Ice-T has to say. Kanye West stated:
Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new sh*t? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level sh*t… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas sh*t if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this sh*t fresh and original…. ain’t no fuckin’ rules to this sh*t and that’s what real hip hop is to me.
In recent comments, Ice-T stated that, “Soulja Boy killed Hip-Hop” and he told him to “eat a d*ck.” If you think about it, Soulja Boy is only 17 years old! That’s a bit harsh to say to a teenager who may have once looked up to you. I have lost mad respect for Ice-T for this one!!! Check out the video of Soulja Boy responding above.
17-year-old rapper Soulja Boy has cranked his way all the way to the top of Forbes Magazine’s Hottest New Music Stars 2008 list. He shares the list with the likes of Sean Kingston (#2), J. Holiday (#4), Flo Rida (#5), Jordin Sparks (#7), and more. The list was populated by artists who had big hits in 2007. How were they determined, you ask? Check out the info below:
To compile a list of the hottest new stars of music, we examined several measures of popularity and success. To start off, we looked at the top searches and downloads on peer-to-peer networks during the past 12 months as measured by BigChampagne, as well as press mentions as measured by Factiva.
Then we looked at U.S. digital track downloads and album sales in 2007 and the first two months of 2008, as measured by Nielsen SoundScan. Finally, we took a look at “mastertone” ringtone sales during the same period, as measured by Nielsen RingScan (mastertones are ringtones that play a snippet of the actual recording of your favorite song). Too bad a good 40 - 50% of this list probably won’t even be around in 2013!
Y’all know it’s that time of the year again. Spring Bling 2008, BET’s annual spring break celebration, was filmed this year in Riviera Beach, Florida. You already know this shit is gonna be on repeat for the next couple of months. So until that happens, maybe these flicks will hold you over!
JASON RAE, HUSBAND OF CORRINE BAILEY RAE, FOUND DEAD » I know we’re like 2 days late on reporting this, but the husband of Grammy-nominated British soul singer Corrine Bailey Rae was found dead in an apartment in the northern English city of Leeds on Saturday. Officers are awaiting results of toxicology tests to determine the cause of death. In connection with the case, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs, and has since been released on bail, according to officials.
29-year-old Corrine Bailey Rae and her husband met when the singer worked in as a coat room attendant at a jazz club in Leeds. They married in 2001. 31-year-old Jason Rae was a saxophonist with a funk band, the Haggis Horns. Along with having performed with his wife, Rae’s band had also previously worked with other British acts including Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson.
EMI Records, Corrine’s record label released a statement after learning of Rae’s loss.
“EMI Records would like to offer its sincere condolences to Corinne Bailey Rae and the Rae family at this tragic time. We ask that the media respects Corinne’s privacy and that of her entire family.”

Seventeen-year-old “Crank That” rapper Soulja Boy recently went to venting via his “claim to fame,” MySpace, denying rumors of him impregnating a nineteen-year-old Atlanta woman by claiming that those rumors are “not true.” He then goes on to address plagiarism claims brought to him by some Ohio band, and acknowledged personal attacks made to him by such celebrities as Steve Harvey with the disc jockey saying [Solja Boy's music] is “vulgar”. Here is the full message:
Wuz hannan dis ya folk Soulja Boy I just wanna let all my fans know that rumor about me having a baby on the way is not true.. So FUCK that site Mediatakeout And FUCK Bet Black carpet for lying on me! lol
And Oh yeah this is my only Myspace page all the others is fake. And FUCK D.O.B. for lying and saying im joccin them I never heard of them in my life if I leave a comment on ya page and say yo music tight u should take that shit as i compliment DUMBASS! And when I come to Ohio I wish yall niggaz would try some shit I will beat the shit out of yall niggaz myself

STEVE HARVEY? wtf I grew up watchin this nigga on TV and he wanna get on radio saying my songs are vulgar and trying to stop me from gettin my paper. I mean damn dude if yo son was out here trying to provide from his family you wouldn’t wont someone trying to stop his success and making up shit.

Some dude named GZA from Wu-Tang Clan dat was born in 66′ lol, who I never met in my life.. I’m like wow..
Don’t hate. INHALE IT IN NIGGA BREATHE IT IN! BASK IN IT!
I hate to admit it, that ‘Boy has a point! As much as I dislike most of his music, I wouldn’t go on to spread hateful rumors about him or say that his songs are “vulgar”. And if he did write this, most likely, I surely wouldn’t dissect his savvy Internet speech and come to the conclusion that he’s ghetto or whatever! Who takes MySpace seriously anyway? Again, I’m not really all into his music like that but I avoid (key word) it, somehow. I’m definitely not mad at him though. He writes, produces, and markets his own music which means he ain’t got to listen NOBODY ($$$). So I applaud him for that, him being almost my age and all, achieving already more than I have. He is very young and ultimately, he is going to rebel, that is just apart of growing up. I somewhat respect him for this though … don’t ask me why.
Uhm, yeah. I thought we left this fool behind in ‘07? How the hell did he get through the door?! I still can’t believe he has a song called “Yahhh!” And the sad part about it is, this might actually do good on the charts. 2008 … here we come.
