Kanye West (photographed above) performs “Stronger” at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center last night in LA. Towards the end of the performance, recording artists Daft Punk made a special cameo appearance. The show featured a lot of performances, and even though we posted the majority of them throughout the night as they came in, a few slipped through the cracks. People.com reports that Usher’s father, Usher Raymond III, passed at an Atlanta hospital this past Friday (January 18th). The website says it first heard of the death from the Chattanooga Times Free Press in Tennessee and that the singer’s reps have confirmed the death. No word on the cause of death. Usher, according to People, was unavailable for comment. The singer and his wife recently celebrated the birth of their son, Usher Raymond V. And it was also reported that he had recently made peace with his estranged father, who struggled with substance abuse and once spent nearly 1 year in prison. Our condolences go out to Usher and his family at this obviously painful time.

2007 is coming to a close, and we here at Think2wice thought it would be the perfect time to highlight some of the greatest moments, people, etc. of the past year! First up, is “Favorite Couples.” And you guessed it, Jay-Z and Beyonce are perched at the top of this list! These two cause a stir in the gossip blogs whenever their names are mentioned. It’s gotten to the point where we’ve given them one name … Jayonce. Despite both of their busy schedules, Jayonce still finds the time to spend time with each other, whether it be a sporting event, a week-long vacation, or just having dinner at one of NYC’s top restaurants. Recently, rumors sparked of the two being married after people spotted matching tattoos on their ring fingers (IV - “FOURever” ??), but those rumors were immediately shot down by one of Jay-Z’s reps. Who knows … they probably are married! Hell, didn’t Janet keep her marriage to that guy from the public for like 10 or more years? Anyhow, hate it or love it, Beyonce and Jay-Z are with each other for the long run, as long as they keep their relationship as private as it has been for the past 4 years. CONTINUE READING

So the 2007 Movies Rock! show went down last night (December 7th): a night of movies, fashion and music! Performances include Chris Brown, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige and John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Will.I.Am, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J and Eve! It looked fun, I’d say my favorite performance would have to be Fergie Ferg with “Live and Let Die” (Guns N’ Roses), she did an amazing job and did that song much justice. Ooh, I also love Usher’s performance of Gene Kelly’s “Singing in the Rain” - great show! Really they ALL did a fantastic job, I’m so proud of everyone! I’m mad I missed it y’all! Usher’s mother, Jonnetta Patton, tells PEOPLE that her new grandson is God’s gift to her son and his wife, just in time for the holidays.
“I’m extremely excited and filled with joy about the birth of my grandson, Usher Raymond V,” Patton says. “He is beautiful, precious, healthy and such a blessing. I’m very happy for my son and his wife [1]. God has truly blessed them with a special gift. This will be an amazing holiday season for all of us.”
Usher’s wife, Tameka, gave birth to Usher Raymond V on Monday night. “We are so happy and proud of our beautiful son,” the couple said in a statement.

The mother of R&B star USHER’s baby boy has lashed out at the singer’s jealous fans, who have made her life a misery ever since the couple announced its engagement.
Tameka Foster, who wed Usher in September (07) and gave birth to their son last week (26Nov07), can’t believe how the black media and black women, in particular, have turned on her.
She insists her love for the Yeah! hitmaker is for real, despite claims she’s using Usher to boost her fashion empire.
Foster tells Essence magazine, “We (black women) don’t like ourselves. If I were Hispanic, Usher would have the sexiest wife alive. If I were mixed, he’d have the sexiest wife alive.
“But he has a black girl, and it’s like, ‘She’s horrible and she’s ugly!’ “OK, maybe I don’t fit the cookie-cutter standard - 25 and a size two - but this is who he loves.” And Foster insists those that just want to bad mouth her should turn their attentions to more pressing matters.
She rants, “There are women getting raped in Darfur, young girls being turned out every single day right here in Atlanta. We have bigger issues to worry about than two people in love with each other.” And soul star Patti LaBelle, who refers to Foster as her “second daughter”, backs her up in the article, adding, “Tameka is a pretty black woman who has been married before… but Usher knows her past and he loves her.”

Damn, did I mention how much I love her? She has a point, you know. I could care less about Usher’s personal life, much less who he weds, hell — Usher can marry a man (no pun intended) — I wouldn’t care. As long as he is happy (and making good music of course) and truly loves this beautiful black woman I see no cons. I must admit, we as black people, are our own enemies. White people love and adore Britney, Lindsay, etc. How come we don’t support each other more? It’s sad.

EDIT: It’s been confirmed by PEOPLE that Usher and Tameka Foster welcomed a baby boy Monday night. Usher Raymond V was born in Atlanta, GA at 9:55 P.M., and weighed in at 7 pounds 9 ounces, according to a statement released by the proud parents. “We are so happy and proud of our beautiful son,” the couple said. “What a blessing!” The family is expected to return home sometime today.

The 2007 American Music Awards went down last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The show was telecast live on CBS and featured performances from Fergie, Chris Brown, Beyonce (and Sugarland), Rihanna & Ne-Yo, and more. Winners included Justin Timberlake, T.I., Akon, Rihanna, and Beyonce, who won the most prestigious honor of the night! Beyonce took home the “International Star of the Year” award, an honor only previously given to Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Rod Stewart. This makes her the first female to ever win that award, which was presented by Usher (who fumbled through 95% of it I might add lol — what’s on his mind??). This is definitely a solid single, courtesy of The Underdogs, the only con I have is she oversings a tad towards the latter. Other than that I think this is a stellar pop ballad that is sure to top the charts almost effortlessly.
